Hey everyone, meet Cindy! Cindy is in our 5pm class. She has made incredible physical and mental strides since Coach Sam took over CFG. This new confidence not only lead her to do a few CrossFit competitions, but also participate in our Primal Challenges and hit her goal weight in the process. She is a huge supporter in everything that we do here and her trust in us coaches is monumental. We are excited to see what other achievements and goals she sets for herself. Read below on how she got her start in CrossFit… 

About 4 years ago a friend talked me into going to a Crossift intro course. My first thought was this is fun, but I just kept doing what I’d been doing, which was cycling, running and boot camp a few times a week, when I wasn’t at one of the boy’s football or lacrosse games. About a year or so later my work schedule changed, and I needed to find a different time to work out. I came across a Groupon for Crossfit Georgetown and decided to give it a try. Three years later and I’m still loving it.

This past year I have noticed an improvement in my mobility, form and strength thanks to great coaching. I still have a long way to go and just when I think I get the hang of something – there’s that Instagram post that shows the way I think I look and the way I actually look are worlds apart. ? My goal right now is to do more than one pull up at a time and consistently string 10 double unders together.

One of my favorite things is that there is always someone encouraging / pushing you to add that extra weight, go a little faster on the bike, or to just keep moving. Even though at some point we are all struggling, we can still smile and laugh (usually when the WOD is over).

If you haven’t noticed, I’m a competitive person. Sports and working out have always been a big part of my life. With Crossfit I’m able to have the best of both. I look forward to that next competition and maybe even a podium finish, but the best part is the friends I’ve made and the community I am a part of.
